Promoting My Movies on Vimeo

I added another movie to my Vimeo account this week.

I posted “The Hysteria of the Uppity Guru” on Vimeo Saturday. It has two likes so far. Both were from filmmakers in Spain. https://vimeo.com/735067667

You can see all my movies on Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/dynamiclethargy

I did a little work on "The Barrier". Mostly trying to get myself organized.

Vimeo, “The Barrier,” and Writing Exercises

This wasn’t a very productive week for me, but I did get a few little things done.

Vimeo

I've been posting all my movies on YouTube. I posted a few of them on Vimeo as well. This week I decided I should put all my movies on both sites. I uploaded five more to Vimeo so far. I have another eight to do. I decided I'd upload those one or two a week, to space them out.

You can see them here: https://vimeo.com/channels/349667

“The Barrier”

One of the movies I have on YouTube that isn’t on Vimeo is “The Barrier.” I’m debating if I should upload it. I want to remake it, but I have let it lie dormant for a long time. Back when my wife was still alive, I started to do a rewrite, but dropped the project when she got sick. I haven’t picked it up since.

Since I last worked on the script, I switched from using Trelby to Scrivener. So, I decided the first step was to convert it. When I started the conversion Friday (2022 July 22) I noticed the date on the last version of the script was 2016 July 22, six years to the day.

Since I last looked at the script, I had a few ideas for improvements. I still think the story will have limited appeal, but I feel the need to get it out of my system. Besides, I got a licence for NAWMAL so I could redo it. I don’t want that money to go to waste.

Writing Exercises

I did a writing exercise at the “Shut Up and Write!” group I joined. I based it on the title "The Assurance of the Jolly Zookeeper". I liked it, although I suspect people will find it a bit trite. I haven’t done recordings of this and my previous writing exercise “The Courage of the Laid-Back Librarian.” I had a cold and cough, so my voice just wasn’t up to it.

I also plan to make videos of a couple of my earlier writing exercises: “The Dread of the Daring Rocketeer,” and “Time Enough for the Anxious Social Media Manager.”

“If I Knew . . .” on Vimeo

A little while ago, I read an article about Vimeo: Why Vimeo Is the Web Video Platform to Watch. The article makes the case that Vimeo is the place to go for people who want to make or watch videos that are more creative.

The site has a reputation for a more sophisticated and supportive community. After my experiences with some of the people who comment on YouTube, that is appealing. See my article Why Do People Hate my Film? I think people there are more likely to enjoy my work than many of the people on YouTube.

I have had a Vimeo account for a while now, but hadn’t posted any public videos. This article prompted me to try it out, so I posted If I Knew . . . this week. http://vimeo.com/44342621

So far, it hasn’t drawn any attention on Vimeo, but I think I will eventually post all of my videos there. If you haven’t seen If I Knew . . . yet, have a look and let me know what you think of it.
